Some excerpts from the 3/26/1999 radio broadcast of State Week In Review:
(The times are the minutes and seconds after the beginning of the show.)

02:34 -- Rich Bradley, WUIS: "Agreement on regulating mega livestock?..."

11:15 -- Tony Man, Lee Enterprises: "...one legislator who has been very involved with agriculture issues, and who does not want any regulations--he's basically sided with the Farm Bureau and those interests--said privately that one reason that this got everybody on board and was going to fly through was it doesn't really do anything..."

16:50 -- Adriana Colindres, State Journal-Register: "...I've heard little bits and pieces about poultry operations at least looking at Illinois..."

...other panelists: "...Hmmm..."

From Chicago Tribune: "...While hog prices have recovered somewhat since reaching Depression depths late last year, farmers are still plagued by losses. In response, some 600 Illinois McDonald's restaurant owners and operators on Friday began featuring pork sandwiches and said they would increase purchase of pork products by 400,000 pounds in 1999..."
Coincidence?!!...Gov. Ryan makes plug for pork at McDonald's
the same day new livestock regulations are announced

State Week in Review (http://www.uis.edu/~wuis/state.htm) is the longest running Public Affairs program on WUIS/WIPA. It was launched when WUIS went on the air as WSSR in 1975. The weekly program is loosely patterned after the very popular PBS Program, Washington Week in Review.

Host and moderator of the program is News Director Rich Bradley. A regular panel, consisting of Jack Van Der Slik, Director of the Illinois Legislative Studies Center at UIS, Charles Wheeler, Director of the Public Affair Reporting Program at UIS, Peggy Boyer Long, Editor of Illinois Issues Magazine, and WUIS Statehouse Bureau Chief Bill Wheelhouse, are joined by two guest journalists each week to highlight and comment on the top news stories of the week in Illinois state government and politics.

State Week in Review is broadcast at 6:30 p.m. each Friday and at 6:30 a.m. each Saturday on WUIS/WIPA and is made available, through satellite transmission, to all public radio stations in Illinois.
